Austicon's Lockbox (Dekker's Dozen 3)
Austicon's Lockbox (Dekker's Dozen 3)
A young journalist disappears... right after interviewing the galaxy’s most notorious criminal imprisoned at a max-lock facility.
What the investigators find could unravel the political fabric of the core worlds
and threaten the MEA government and its corps of mind readers who are committed to keeping their secrets at all costs.
Now, it's a race against government forces and pirate clans--the winner will claim the mythic treasure... but no one know what's truly inside the Lockbox--and everyone has their own intentions upon it and theories of what it holds. Only one thing is certain:
…something wicked is now headed for Earth, and whatever it is, it's not from our universe.

This book is a great continuation of an enjoyable series. Dekker and his crew stay true to form and risk it all to save the universe once again. If you enjoyed the previous books or anything else by this author I recommend reading this book.

I got the first book for free and it just yanked me in from the start. Shortly after I got the box set because I just had to learn more. I couldn't put it down. I inhaled it in almost one fell sitting. Then, I put this on pre-order and it came out today. After several hours, I inhaled it too. What is so fascinating is you have Dekker who is very even keeled but is involved in an ancient mystery that might go back since time began but he's not talking. Dekker is The Last Watchman involved in a huge, epic fight of Good vs. Evil. All that mythology underpins this epic story. Some of the Dozen characters are fascinating. Vesuvius is a bit prickly and goes off at times, hence the name, but has a heart of gold. Guy is so funny and likes to blow things up. Sometimes he saves the day and sometimes it's an Oops! There are truly evil guys you love to hate but are so intelligent, sinister and cunning that you can't wait to see what happens, why and how does it tie into the many, other subplots because you know it will. It it is a blast, a mystery, character driven, epic space opera. One wild ride.
